The SUPERVIVE Lore Interview ft. Dev Justin Groot

hello and thank you

Hey everyone, Spun here. First off just a huge thank you to the team at Theorycraft Games for giving me this amazing opportunity. I love making content, and when it comes to lore, could likely talk about it for hours and hours. It might be my 1000 hour game. In this ‘text based’ area I am going to try and summarize the video so that it can be easily translated and referenced. That said, there is a high likelihood that I may miss certain details etc…so as always make sure to go watch the video on YouTube as well as like, subscribe and all that good stuff.

Voice acting

• Most of the hunters scripts are about 300 lines total (Not all will be used initially)
• Hunters are determined and not afraid to die, this will be shown in VA
• They over recorded almost all VO to give them extra if needed
• There is a fine line using VA to have call outs that can be used competitively but also provide variance
• Friendly callouts may be different from enemy VO callouts
• Attempted to maximize variety.

The world

• Set in fantasy universe on a fantasy planet. Not earth in future.
• World has magic, infact, the planet itself is magical. This is where all magic comes from.
• Lots of technology but also fantasy and magical.
• 13 years before game is set there is a technological golden age. Safe. Good stable life.
• Disaster strikes, abyssals emerge from earth and begin to destroy everything. We don’t know why, militaries fail to stop them. It looks bleak.
• In a hail mary attempt, the most powerful magic users on planet (Fae) combine their magics to lift as much of the planets land masses into the sky…away from the abyssals and create places for people to live and sustain life.
• This raising of the much of the earths crust is known as The Rising.
• Life is now very different from the Golden Age.
• The sky realms are created, beautiful yet dangerous lands. Livable. Can have great lives here now.

What is a Vive?

• Underground reserves of magic (common knowledge) fuel the fae-technology
• Fae live for hundreds maybe even thousands of years. Still not sure about life span of wildlings, but if Felix lives in “fox years” and 13 is is similar to being in 30’s, maybe they live shorter than humans?
• Fae are overwhelmingly the magic users of this world. Humans don’t use magic, or at least not often. Wildlings do use magic.
• Magic is called Vive.
• A matches power, experience, vive beans = magic seeping out of the planets remains
• When rising happened and islands raised released TONS of magic, venting into space.

What is a SUPERVIVE?

• A SUPERVIVE is a meteorological solar flare of magic. Look at the logo.
• If you are there for the SUPERVIVE you can absorb that magic and use it for whatever your motivation is.

THE LIGHTHOUSE

• The lighthouse is an offscreen place but important in lore, place where hunters hang out before they hunt a SUPERVIVE.
• SUPERVIVES in world are kinda rare, only happen every few months.
• Ancient ship that is poorly understood, from a long lost era buried underground. Released during The Rising.
• It is now traveling from SUPERVIVE location to SUPERVIVE location.
• You can anchor yourself to lighthouse, making it so you cannot die. Resummoning you back to the light house when you would otherwise die. Tethered soul.
• Drop pods a mixture of ancient and modern tech. Light house is huge. Maybe not fully explored?
• Might be a gym there for KP and Ghost.
• Has crystals that are a consciousness speaking for the light house, this is some ai/or person trapped in crystals (This is the announcer in game)

Havenshard and the Havenguard

• Havenshard is a fragile beautiful important place. Its in our best interest to keep it safe, but why?
• Havenguard is a faction tasked with protecting Havenshard (Shrike, Elluna, Oath, Zeph, and maybe Myth)
• Lots to learn about this place, the faction and its people still.
• Seems important.

The HUNTERS AGES

• Crysta is a younger hunter with similar back story.
• Many of younger hunters grew up with the changed world, being only ~10 or so when the rising happened.
• Felix was 3, but that’s older in fox years.
• Zeph is older than he looks.
• Shrike mid twenties.
• Jin is on younger side.
• For some people, they grew up and embrace the Skyrealms.

FELIX

• Felix is 13, and in Foxkin years he is 30. Was only 3 when rising happened.
• He is a pyromaniac, likes setting things on fire. Wants to be a hero.
• Known as a Bright Flame Fox (Wildling race) who wield fire magic.
• Felix was unable to develop this fire skill, it crushed him. He was made fun of for it.
• Went on long wandering journeys through a forested sky island (potentially where the Bright Flame Foxes call home?).
• Came across a flame spirit he named Embry. An elemental manifestation of magic released in The Rising.
• He invented a bunch of items to approximate his tribes fire powers, even potentially surpassing their skills.
• He then goes to show off his skills and accidentally burns down the whole village. Oops.
• They exile him, where he goes to prove himself by absorbing the SUPERVIVE.

ELLUNA

• The moon is magic, because it was originally a part of the planet, which is also magic.
• Elluna’s people worshiped the moon as a god, it may even have a consciousness.
• Elluna’s people would attune to the moon and use its powers becoming moon priests.
• During the rising Elluna died. Potentially while trying to save people.
• During The Rising, a burst of energy shoots out and shatters the moon. Oops.
• Something mysterious from the moon exploding brings Elluna back to life. Granting her much stronger lunar powers. This gives her the power to bring others back to life. So she is technically undead.
• Her goals are to protect and minimize suffering in the world. She aims to accomplish this by absorbing SUPERVIVES.

The FUTURE OF STORYTELLING IN SUPERVIVE?

Team focused on their mission of reaching as many people as possible.

Personally, and this is Spun talking, if I see enough interest in these first few Lore videos I hope to make animations and tell these stories that happen in the Skyrealms myself. This would be my dream as a content creator!
